I just love seafood and I have fun catching it. There is nothing more relaxing or satisfying then going down to the dock and fishing for the day.

Fishing is great fun but I really like crab. To catch crab it usually involves a boat, fuel and large cumbersome crab traps. I have to plan the day and its not as spontaneous of an adventure as just going down to the dock and casting my line.

Doing all that planning is not much fun if you think about it. By the time you assemble all the equipment and pay for the fuel - it's just not fun anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love to go out in the boat and fish or set out the crab traps but if the sea is a bit choppy or the weather isn't not quite perfect, I don't have as much fun and neither do the kids.

I Needed To Come Up With A Simple & Portable Way To Catch Crab

Fishing off the dock has always been a great pastime for me and I thought why couldn't you fish for crab the same way. I looked at what was available on the market and found many styles and sizes of crab traps. Most of them were large and cumbersome. I really couldn't see myself putting those in the car and dragging them down the dock to use.

Who wants to drag a large crab pot down to the dock to catch crab? I certainly didn't! I had seen others fishing at the dock all trying this gadget or that but they never seemed to work quite right. The crab would fall out of the trap or the doors wouldn't work.

I've always been an inventor of sorts - dabbling in this or that. I've built homes and created some pretty nice stuff ... and well darn it, I couldn't see why I couldn't create a better mouse trap -- oops, I mean a better crab trap.

My family and friends kept after me to design something. So I did!

Sure there are lots of crab traps on the market but none of them are like this one. This Makes Crab Fishing Easy.

I knew if I was going to make a better crab trap it had to have certain qualities...

  • It had to be light weight!

  • It had to be portable.

  • It had to be simple to use.

  • It had to be fun!

After many months and several design changes the Sporty Crab Trap was born. I listened to my friends and family and created exactly what was needed - a light weight, portable crab trap that was FUN to use.

It doesn't matter how old or young you are. The Sporty Crap Trap is great fun. My grand kids love it, Look at those smiling faces.

When the kids come over for a visit we head down to the dock to fish for crab. Everything is so light weight and portable.

All you need is your fishing pole, the Sporty Crab Trap and some bait and you are set for the day.

Just attach the Sporty Crab Trap with a secure swivel to the line on your fishing pole. Add chicken or squid to the bait holder and lock securely.

Cast your line like you normally would and let the Sporty Crab Trap sink to the bottom.

The bait is held in place by a specially designed bait holder. As the crabs climb up onto the trap to eat, their movements will cause the tip of your rod to bend. Keeping steady pressure on the rod, gently real in the line. As the trap rises to the surface its sides close on the crab, trapping it. There is no need to yank the rod or "set the hook".

Crabs are caught gently - remember only keep the legal size ones and let the little ones go back so they can grow!
